Former Ferrari driver Jean Alesi has criticized Lewis Hamilton following a new low point during the race weekend in Hungary. The future of the seven-time world champion is increasingly under pressure. While many experts watched with regret as Hamilton questioned his own abilities, Alesi was critical. The Frenchman suggests that the attitude of the 40-year-old Briton is not very motivating.

In a conversation with the Italian Corriere della Sera, Alesi shared his views on Ferrari’s performance in Hungary. Charles Leclerc upheld the honor of the Scuderia by starting in pole position, although he missed the podium in the race. Hamilton failed to reach Q3 and ended up in P12 on Sunday. After the qualification, he called himself ‘useless’ and urged Ferrari to appoint a new driver.

Schumacher and Senna

“I was not at all pleased with Ferrari during the Hungarian Grand Prix,” said Alesi. “It started as a comedy in Italian style and ended as a horror movie. George Russell provided the most telling insight when he could easily deal with Leclerc’s car. A Ferrari that performs well on Saturday and completely collapses on Sunday is the most frustrating thing you can imagine as a fan of the Prancing Horse.”

Alesi then turned his sights on Lewis Hamilton. He compared the British driver to Formula 1 legends Ayrton Senna and Michael Schumacher, who would have presented themselves less vulnerably in the same situation. “They would never have said such things,” he referred to Hamilton’s ‘useless’ statements. “I think his attitude demotivates the people around him.”
