Cadillac Unveils Bold F1 Livery at Super Bowl

Cadillac pulled out all the stops on Sunday to unveil its new F1 livery for 2026. During the Super Bowl, the finale of the American NFL season, the design was presented to the world in a commercial. The livery departs from conventional F1 color schemes on multiple fronts; the design is asymmetrical, with a black-and-white gradient running down each side of the car. According to CEO Dan Towriss, the livery reflects Cadillac’s mission in Formula 1.

Cadillac’s first F1 car will wear a two-tone livery, with black-and-white accents that blend smoothly into one another. The asymmetry of the design is striking. In an official press release the team speaks of a ‘yin-yang balance.’ Fans reacted with mixed opinions to the new color scheme: the experimental layout and the stark black-and-white contrast produce an attractive livery, but Cadillac adds little extra color to the F1 grid this way. The lack of color was already a sensitive issue in the pinnacle of the sport last year.

‘Unmistakably American’

“This livery represents far more than a coat of paint,” replied Dan Towriss, CEO of the F1 team of Cadillac, in an official press release. “It shows who we are and what we bring to Formula 1. Every detail is deliberate: bold, modern and unmistakably American, with respect for the heritage and the precision that define this sport. By revealing our first livery during the Super Bowl and in the heart of Times Square we present our identity to the world — at the intersection of performance, culture and entertainment — and reach fans well beyond the paddock.” A replica of the new F1 car appeared Sunday in a glass display on Times Square in New York.

Team principal Graeme Lowdon added: “I am incredibly proud to unveil the livery of our 2026 Formula 1 car. We are a team built on bold ambition and engineering innovation. We underlined that today by tapping into one of the most culturally influential sporting events in the world,” he was referring to the Super Bowl. “That has never been done before by an F1 team.” The event is far more than just the final of the national American football competition. During the break there is traditionally a spectacular show, with so‑called halftime performances from the world’s biggest music artists. In recent years the Super Bowl has consistently broken viewing records, which makes it particularly attractive for advertisers to secure a slot in the commercial break.
