The historic rally ‘Legend Bougles’ in Bastogne, in which Jos Verstappen and his regular co-driver Renaud Jamoul were competing, was halted early on Sunday. The decision came after a fatal collision in which a female spectator lost her life.
The accident happened during special stage RT10 in Bonnerue. The car of Belgian rally driver Thibaud Mazuin left the road, TV Lux reports, and ended up in a group of spectators at the roadside. The woman was seriously injured. She was resuscitated, but medical intervention was ultimately unsuccessful. There are reports that others were also injured. The circumstances of the accident are still under investigation.
For Jos Verstappen and Renaud Jamoul it was their first rally of 2026. They were running a red BMW M3 E30 for Verstappen Racing. After eight special stages on Saturday they were ninth in the classification.
