Miami GP Unveils Superyacht Grandstand Experience
GP van Miami

The Miami Grand Prix has been defined by luxury and excess since its inaugural edition in 2022. The seaside resort pulls the wealthiest Americans into Formula 1 and intends to keep serving them a bespoke experience. On Friday, the organisers behind the Miami Grand Prix unveiled a new superyacht grandstand along the circuit. Well-heeled spectators can enjoy Formula 1 here combined with the atmosphere of a luxury sea voyage.

In collaboration with MSC Cruises, this new hospitality experience is the latest draw of the race weekend. The Miami Grand Prix previously made headlines with the artificial marina constructed beside the circuit. The new superyacht grandstand will be erected on the inside of turns five through nine and is designed to deliver a cruise-like experience on land. The ‘yacht’ will be roughly 80 metres long, 29 metres wide and 15 metres high at its tallest point. Spread over five decks, guests will have access to a variety of experiences; merely attending the race weekend no longer appears sufficient.

Unique experience

From the so-called ‘captain’s deck’ visitors will enjoy panoramic views over the circuit. They can also reserve a private spot in one of nine exclusive cabins. Katharina Nowak, chair of the Miami Grand Prix, emphasised in a statement that the stand adds a new dimension to the event. “With the MSC Yacht Club we wanted to elevate that iconic space. We’ve created something that is more immersive, more refined and more closely connected to the race. We’ve assembled an exceptional guest experience while remaining true to the energy of Miami that makes our race so unique.”

The Miami Grand Prix takes place this year from 1 to 3 May. The event secured a long-term contract with Formula 1 last year and will remain on the calendar through 2041. Fans remain divided; not everyone is convinced by the spectacle the Miami Grand Prix offers. In the past, criticism has been levelled at the relatively unexciting races run on the street circuit.
