Honda is hard at work on the final preparations for the 2026 season. The Japanese engine maker will, for the first time, supply power units to Aston Martin. Although the British team’s car won’t be revealed until 9 February Honda has already put out a small sneak peek of the power unit.
After a years-long partnership with Red Bull, engine supplier Honda has said goodbye to the Austrian squad. From 2026 the Japanese manufacturer joins forces with Aston Martin, and it’s busy putting the finishing touches on the power unit for the new season.
The official unveiling of Aston Martin’s 2026 car — and thus the team’s first chassis with a Honda power unit — takes place only on 9 February. The Japanese manufacturer has, however, already shared a small sneak peek of the unit. On its own social channels Honda has so far posted two photos showing a silhouette of the power unit. “Designed for a new era of Formula 1,” reads the post.

Mercedes
Honda is of course not the only engine supplier busy finalising its 2026 motor. The Mercedes and Red Bull camps are reportedly already exploiting a loophole in the new regulations. Both manufacturers have applied a ‘trick’ to the compression ratios of their engines. The FIA is holding a meeting on 22 January about the 2026 regulations, reportedly prompted by growing concerns from other engine manufacturers over the alleged trick.
