Step behind the scenes of Formula 1: our reporters were at every Grand Prix in 2025, including Las Vegas. Not just online, but in our magazine, we share our experiences. Part 22 of 24: Gerard Bos on madness and Elvis.
The Las Vegas Grand Prix has been met with skepticism since 2023. More show than sport, they say. But let me tell you, as you stroll through this wild city, you can truly feel the passion of F1 fans flocking to ‘Sin City’. Maybe I’m a lone voice in the Nevada desert, but I say: it’s always a blast here.
Sure, the false start in 2023 with that rogue manhole cover was a disgrace for the Las Vegas organizers and F1 as a whole, but the race was entertaining. I’ll admit, the driver introductions were over the top. However, by 2024, the Vegas setting improved significantly, and it was another thrilling weekend: Max Verstappen clinched the championship there. And this year? In 2025, we witnessed the first-ever rainy race weekend in Vegas. Never a dull moment, as the Americans say.
Of course, there’s the insane backdrop of neon lights, entertainment, and casino madness. With four Elvis impersonators. And Mickey Mouse directing the famous Bellagio fountains to soar high after the Grand Prix.
But this is Las Vegas, folks! The sport draws a crowd, as you can see when you walk the streets and spot countless fans in F1 gear. This city and F1 are becoming a perfect match. Get used to it.
Show? Yes. Sport? Absolutely. ‘Viva Las Vegas,’ to quote Elvis!
