Join us behind the scenes of Formula 1: our reporters were present at every Grand Prix in 2025, including in Belgium. We write about our experiences not only online, but also in our magazine. Part 13 of 24: Gerard Bos on a German Max fan in Spa.
In the paddock in Belgium, I find myself reminiscing about the time when I was a student earning extra money as a tyre delivery driver. The company was called BDC Noord. It was a good time; from Michelin to Vredestein, from Bridgestone to Toyo, Pirelli of course, and more. You always made the auto mechanics waiting for the tyres happy: another satisfied customer.
And, as I noticed in Belgium during the Grand Prix, even as a Formula 1 reporter you can make people happy. Not my achievement, but our achievement as the entire Formula 1 editorial team.
Among the lucky winners: Felix, a young fan from Germany, it turned out. He let us know via Instagram that he learned Dutch to read our magazine (which he specifically gets from the Netherlands) and to listen to podcasts, including our Paddock Talk. All to stay informed about Max Verstappen. And now he even saw him live in action, in Spa.
On Sunday, I received an Instagram chat message from this Felix. A photo, with a thank you to us. He was very happy, he wrote. Isn’t that wonderful? I felt like that delivery driver again. Happy people, that’s always good!
