Max Verstappen is not overly concerned about winning or losing a world title. The Dutchman stated shortly after losing the title to Lando Norris at the recent Grand Prix in Abu Dhabi that he had already moved past the disappointment. According to Verstappen, stressing over such matters is not good for one’s health: ‘You die faster if you have too much stress, so I’m definitely going to live to 250’.

The difference was just two World Championship points. That was ultimately the gap between newly crowned world champion Lando Norris and runner-up Max Verstappen in Abu Dhabi. However, the Dutchman immediately expressed his acceptance of narrowly losing the title race. “The fact that I’m two points short is just the way it is,” he said. “It doesn’t really matter whether it’s one, two, or fifty.”

In the latest episode of the Talking Bull podcast, Verstappen was once again asked about his acceptance of losing the world title. “I’ve been saying all along: ‘Four titles are great, and five is slightly better’. But in the end, I’m still going home or on vacation,” Verstappen explains about his relaxed attitude throughout the season.

Life Lessons

The world champion then shares a few valuable life lessons. “People generally take life too seriously. Of course, it’s important to do good work, but in the end, I’ll be on the circuit until I’m at most forty. After that, I have many years to enjoy other things in my life.” Max Verstappen doesn’t think that the number of titles he has won will matter much after the end of his F1 career. “When I’m fifty or sixty, do you think I’ll care if I’ve won four or seven? I’ll still order the same drink, the same food. It won’t affect the rest of my life.”

Verstappen concludes with one last piece of advice. “Stress is very bad for you. You die faster if you have too much stress. So, I’m definitely going to live to be 250 years old,” the Dutchman jokes.
