Lewis Hamilton has dismissed all rumors about a potential retirement. The 40-year-old driver had a disappointing season during his first year in Ferrari red, sparking rumors about the end of the Brit’s Formula 1 career. However, according to Hamilton, that’s not the case: ‘I still have a dream.’
Lewis Hamilton ended his first season with Ferrari in sixth place in the drivers’ championship. Although it’s not the lowest position for the Brit in a championship – Hamilton was seventh in 2024 – it’s a season the seven-time world champion would rather forget. Hamilton expressed his eagerness for the winter break shortly after the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
“I’m going to completely disconnect, not talk to anyone,” the driver shared about his plans. “No one will be able to reach me this winter. My phone is going in the trash this time.” Due to the ongoing disappointing results of the now 40-year-old Hamilton, rumors about a potential retirement circulated in the paddock. However, the Brit himself doesn’t want to hear anything about it.
Dream
Hamilton had a clear response when asked for a reaction to his critics. “I wouldn’t say anything to them,” said the seven-time world champion. “None of them have done what I have done, so they’re not on my level.” The driver also immediately explained why he continues: “It’s the love for what you do, it’s the love for racing. I receive great support from the people around me, from my fans. It’s that constant holding on to the dream. I still have a dream that I cherish hope for in my heart and that’s what I’m working towards.”
