Laurens van Hoepen will compete for TRIDENT in the Formula 2 next season. This year, the Dutchman already drove three race weekends for the Italian team in Azerbaijan, Qatar, and Abu Dhabi, providing him with valuable preparation for his first full season in 2026.

Van Hoepen raced in the Formula 3 last year and finished the championship in twelfth place. After the season, he joined TRIDENT in the Formula 2 three more times to further prepare for 2026. The team had a challenging season in 2025, with only two points and a last place in the constructors’ championship, but hopes to make progress with Van Hoepen.

“I am very excited to drive for TRIDENT Motorsport in the Formula 2 next season,” said Van Hoepen. “The experience I gained this year during the three races was very valuable for this step. Together with the technical team, we have made progress that will be of great importance for next year. We are looking forward to an intense and challenging season.”

Confidence in Van Hoepen

TRIDENT Team Manager Giacomo Ricci is also looking forward to the collaboration. “We are very pleased that Laurens Van Hoepen will be driving the Formula 2 season with TRIDENT next year. We got to know him in the latter part of this season and really came to appreciate him. After his positive debut in Baku, he immediately felt at ease with our team. I am sure he has the qualities to put together a strong season with our technical team in this very competitive championship.”
