Lewis Hamilton‘s disastrous weekend in Qatar is complete. After two eliminations in Q1 and a point-less sprint race, the seven-time world champion also finished outside the points in the main event. While he had previously expressed his frustrations about Ferrari and the lack of speed, he was notably level-headed after the Grand Prix. Hamilton primarily focused on 2026 and the long list of improvements he wants to implement for the new season.

After being eliminated in Q1 again, Lewis Hamilton started the GP of Qatar from P17. The British star made up some places, but ultimately stranded on a point-less twelfth place. After the race, the result seemed to bother him little. The seven-time world champion was satisfied with his own performance and wanted to shift the focus to 2026. With the introduction of the new technical regulations, the Ferrari driver hopes to be competitive again.

‘I have so many ideas’

“I feel fine,” Hamilton responded dryly. “I had a good first lap and made up a few places; I enjoyed it as much as possible.” The 40-year-old driver reiterated once again that this has been the toughest year of his long Formula 1 career. “It was absolutely the most challenging year, both inside and outside the car. I have so many ideas about things we need to improve.”

“Time will tell if we’re going to do something about it, if we keep the good things and change the less good ones,” he continued. “And there are certainly plenty of those,” Hamilton joked. “There is literally no reason why we couldn’t improve those things if we just put them into practice. I sincerely hope we make progress.”
