In his debut season with Ferrari, Lewis Hamilton has given several gloomy interviews, but after the GP of Las Vegas, the Brit seemed to reach a new low. After a highly disappointing qualification, he had to start from the nineteenth position. In the race, he fought his way back to the points, but even then, Hamilton appeared far from cheered up. Even 2026 and the new technical regulations no longer give him hope.

From P19, Hamilton drove to P10 on Saturday evening, earning a few World Championship points for Ferrari; thanks to the disqualification of both McLaren drivers, he even inherited the eighth place. A small consolation after the qualification, where Hamilton failed to drive a competitive round on a wet track in time. However, in front of Sky Sports cameras, he stated that he found ‘zero’ solace in the comeback race. Instead, the 40-year-old Brit lamented his ‘worst season ever’ in Formula 1.

‘No enthusiasm for next year’

“I feel terrible,” said a defeated Hamilton. “It’s the worst season I’ve ever had. No matter how hard I try, it only gets worse. I’ve done everything I can, both in and out of the car.” This year, Ferrari fell back to fourth place in the constructors’ championship, while the team narrowly missed the title in 2024. “I don’t even know how many points we have, but at this pace and with my performances, we’re done.”

He also appeared distressed in front of the print media. “The ten places I’ve made up mean absolutely nothing,” he stated. “It’s still a bad weekend.” Was there nothing positive to take from the race? “No,” was the curt reply. “I’ve had twenty-two bad weekends.” The BBC finally asked Hamilton about the last races and the 2026 season. “I can’t wait for it to be over,” he responded. “And for now, I have no enthusiasm for the next season, given how badly this year has gone.”
