Max Verstappen, while satisfied with his second-place position on the grid in Las Vegas, is puzzled about his speed in the race. The Dutchman expressed this during the press conference following the qualification.
It is almost certain that the race will remain dry, a stark contrast to the rain-plagued qualification. “It’s incredibly difficult to say whether our speed will be good in dry conditions,” Verstappen looked ahead to the race. The reason for the uncertainty is the lack of long runs in the free practice.
Verstappen: “We were unable to do many long runs in that. And the few we did, didn’t entirely please me.” So, is it a leap of faith for the race? Yes, nods the Dutchman, who starts second behind pole-sitter Lando Norris. “We made some adjustments to the car after the free practices, perhaps that will improve things in the race. Let’s hope so.”
