Max Verstappen elicited laughter in Las Vegas when the drivers were asked during a press conference about the ‘crazy location’ where they would like to see a race. The Dutchman responded wittily, “Perhaps the North Pole?”
Questions during the Formula 1 press conference often vary, and a foreign journalist was curious to know from George Russell, Fernando Alonso, and Verstappen where they would like to see a race, at least in terms of an unusual location.
“London,” Russell said quite quickly. “I think no one would object to that, and there hasn’t been a race there yet.” Alonso had his own thoughts, shrugged his shoulders and said, “In my hometown, or on my karting track.” Grinning, he added, “Although it would need to be made a bit larger.”
When it was Verstappen’s turn to answer, it became clear that he didn’t quite know what to make of the foreign journalist’s question. “The North Pole, perhaps? Well, I have no idea.”
