Max Verstappen enters the final triple header of 2025 with a fighting spirit. The Dutchman surprised everyone, including himself, with his impressive comeback in São Paulo, although championship leader Lando Norris extended his lead with his Brazilian victory. However, Verstappen has no intention of throwing in the towel: ‘We will keep pushing, as we have nothing to lose’.
Max Verstappen not only surprised friends and foes with his comeback in Brazil, but also himself. The Dutchman started from the pit lane at the Grand Prix in São Paulo, but finished just behind Andrea Kimi Antonelli in third place. “Brazil was a special race for us,” the world champion reflects one more time in the Red Bull preview. “I didn’t think a podium finish was possible, but it was truly an incredible turnaround by the team and it shows that we never give up.”
The focus now shifts to the GP Las Vegas, the place where the Dutchman secured his fourth world title last year. “As we head into the final triple header, we’re in the home stretch of the season,” Verstappen continues. “We’ll do our best and keep pushing, because we have nothing to lose.” The Dutchman is currently 49 World Championship points behind leader Lando Norris, while Red Bull is battling with Mercedes and Ferrari for second place in the constructors’ championship. “Vegas is a fast circuit, there’s little downforce and the temperatures seem quite low this week, so we’ll have to manage our tyres well.” Verstappen hopes to deliver ‘another positive performance’ on The Strip, particularly on Sunday.
Tsunoda Hopes for a Turnaround
Teammate Yuki Tsunoda also predicts that the temperatures in the desert city will pose significant challenges. “That means we’ll have to try different things to get the car to perform as well as possible,” concludes the Japanese driver. Tsunoda also hopes to turn the tide in Las Vegas after finishing seventeenth in Brazil. “Although Brazil was tough for me, my pace was good,” the driver sees a silver lining. “And if we can repeat that, with a less eventful race, we should be able to compete. I’ve been training hard since Brazil. The full focus is now on the remaining races of 2025.”
