Oscar Piastri is feeling the full pressure of the battle for the Formula 1 World Championship this season, and he is fully aware of it. According to the Australian driver, it is precisely this tension that makes racing for the title so special and valuable.

In his third year in Formula 1, Oscar Piastri is already fighting for the World Championship. According to the Australian driver, the pressure that comes with this is an extra motivation and a confirmation of what he loves to do most. “In everything in life, if there is no pressure on what you’re doing, there are usually one or two things: either you don’t care, which is not a good sign, or it’s not something you really have to fight for,” said Piastri. “When you’re in this position, there is pressure. It’s tough and sometimes uncomfortable, but I’d much rather have a bit of discomfort now and then while fighting for a World Championship than trying to score a few points now and then.”

The young McLaren driver looks back with pride on his development in Formula 1. “In my short time in Formula 1, I’ve already experienced a lot. Now that I’m here and the team is here, it feels much better. This is what you race for: fighting for championships, especially in Formula 1. That’s what you do it for.” Piastri emphasizes that success in Formula 1 never comes easily. “It doesn’t come easy, and there’s a lot of pressure involved, but you’re fighting for something worth fighting for. That pressure is just part of it.”

Title Battle Remains Exciting

Lando Norris currently leads the World Championship with 390 points, with teammate and title rival Oscar Piastri 24 points behind. Piastri had a tough block in the United States, Mexico, and Brazil, where he finished fifth each time, while Norris convincingly won twice during that period. Max Verstappen is 49 points behind, but still has a view of the title. With three more Grands Prix and a sprint race to go, Piastri will need to convert the pressure into speed to close the gap.
