Max Verstappen expressed deep disappointment following his early elimination in the qualifying round for the São Paulo Grand Prix. The Red Bull driver ended up in the sixteenth position in Q1 and was astounded by the poor performance of his RB21 during the session.
Verstappen provided a candid account of his struggles on the track: “It was simply terrible. I couldn’t push at all. The car was resisting and slipping a lot. I had to drive overly cautiously to avoid causing an incident. That, of course, doesn’t work during qualifying. We need to first analyze what exactly is going on. I really don’t understand how the car can be this bad, so that’s the most important thing to figure out at the moment.”
For Red Bull, this means that Verstappen will have to fight his way back from the rear positions during the Grand Prix, while the team tries to understand why the car was so difficult to handle in São Paulo.
