Franco Colapinto will remain with Alpine until 2026, as announced by the French racing team on Friday. The 21-year-old Argentine has extended his contract with the team and will once again partner with Pierre Gasly next year. This decision by top advisor Flavio Briatore ensures a stable line-up during a period when Alpine – after a disappointing season – is desperately seeking continuity. For his part, Colapinto is grateful and proud that the team has entrusted him with a new contract.

In an official press release, Colapinto expressed his delight at the contract extension. “I am incredibly grateful to Flavio (Briatore) and the entire team for their trust,” he said. “Since my debut in Formula 1, I know how big the challenge is to keep your seat. It’s been a long and tough journey, but I’m extremely proud to be driving for this team again in 2026. And to do so alongside Pierre (Gasly), who has been a fantastic teammate and someone from whom I can undoubtedly learn a lot.”

For Colapinto, who took over Jack Doohan’s seat at the beginning of 2025, the announcement in São Paulo felt extra special. “It’s very special to share this news here in Brazil,” he continued. “It’s so close to Argentina; this event feels almost like a home race for me. I experience a lot of support here – from the fans, from the team, from everyone who follows us. The fact that so many people are traveling with us on this journey is exactly why we race. Next year, when a reset should take place in Formula 1, we want to give everyone who supports us a reason to smile. Let’s go Alpine!”

‘Always Believed in Colapinto’

Team boss Flavio Briatore, who has been trying to make his mark since his return to Alpine, spoke highly of the young Argentine. “I have followed Franco’s development throughout his entire Formula 1 career,” he added. “I have always believed that he possesses the right qualities and potential to become a top driver who can grow with the team. Our decision to continue together in 2026 is a clear signal of trust and commitment.”

Although 2025 was not an easy season for Alpine, Briatore remains optimistic about the future. “It was a tough year for the entire team, and it was not the easiest situation to perform in,” he admitted. “But both Franco and Pierre Gasly have done everything they can to prepare the team as well as possible for next season. With this line-up, we have a strong mix of experience, speed, and talent that will help Alpine move forward.”
