With four Grand Prix races remaining this season, the two McLaren drivers are still neck and neck in the title race. World Championship leader Lando Norris is only one point ahead of teammate Oscar Piastri. As the São Paulo GP approaches, McLaren also needs to consider Max Verstappen. The Dutchman dominated last year on a soaking wet Interlagos and, with a 36-point deficit to Norris, is still in contention for the title.

Despite the threat from his teammate and title rival Verstappen, Norris is looking forward to the upcoming sprint weekend in Brazil. The newly acquired top position in the standings puts extra pressure on the 25-year-old Brit, but he is not bothered. “I’m excited to race at Interlagos again,” he said in an official press release. “The GP is always a fun weekend and São Paulo is also a great city to visit,” added the McLaren driver.

‘Maximum Points’

“It’s also a sprint weekend, so I’m going for maximum points,” he continued. “Last week I was back with the team in Woking. We evaluated the double header and I spent time preparing for this weekend. I feel good and am looking forward to getting back on the track. Bring it on,” Norris concluded defiantly.

Oscar Piastri, who relinquished the championship lead during the Mexico GP, is also looking forward to a great sprint weekend. “Brazil is a great opportunity to score a lot of points, especially with the sprint race,” he said. “There’s still a lot at stake and the preparation for this weekend has gone very well. It’s a circuit I enjoy – with its elevation changes and the combination of long straights and tight sectors. We also need to, as always, keep a close eye on the weather.”
