Jonathan Wheatley, a veteran of over thirty years in Formula 1, has had extensive collaborations with both Jos and Max Verstappen. However, Wheatley has now traded Red Bull Racing for Sauber, now known as Audi. “But our relationship is still very strong,” says the Englishman.
Wheatley is thoroughly enjoying his first season with his new team. He beams when he talks about it. “From the start, I’ve felt happy. On the track, with the team. Off the track, with life in Switzerland. I love it.”
These days, Wheatley can be seen on the circuits in a green-black outfit instead of the dark blue colors of Red Bull. Dutch Formula 1 enthusiasts also know him from his long and successful collaboration with both Jos and Max Verstappen.
“Jos and I have known each other for a long time, I consider him a friend and my relationship with Max is of course also fantastic; I cherish all of that. Jos and I go back to 1994, you know. And even then, there were many Dutch F1 fans. Wonderful. Still true today. I feel like I’ve had a connection with the Netherlands for a very long time.”
