Isack Hadjar had a painful start to his qualification in Austin. The young Frenchman crashed in his very first lap of Q1, entering turn 6. It was a high-speed crash, bringing his qualification to an immediate end.
Hadjar lost control of his VCARB02 in the fast corner combination of sector 1. The car shot off the track and landed hard in the tire barrier. Although Hadjar emerged unscathed, the damage to the car was significant. The red flag was waved and the session was temporarily halted. For the Racing Bulls driver, it meant an abrupt and disappointing end to his qualifying performance in Austin.
