Ferrari team principal Frédéric Vasseur sees clear progress in the collaboration between Lewis Hamilton and Ferrari, although he immediately emphasizes that the process still needs more time. Prior to the US Grand Prix, Vasseur spoke candidly about the development of the relationship between the seven-time world champion and the Scuderia.

Since his move from Mercedes to Ferrari, Lewis Hamilton has been having a season that has not yet yielded the hoped-for successes. However, behind the scenes, a solid foundation of trust seems to be forming between the driver and the management of the Italian racing team – something that Vasseur believes is crucial for long-term success. “I know I can trust him, and he knows he can trust me – and that’s important,” the Frenchman told The Athletic. “He knows that I am fully committed to the team’s performance.”

Vasseur’s comments point to a growing mutual understanding between Hamilton and his team principal. A solid relationship, which according to Vasseur should form the basis for future successes. Despite a disappointing season, Ferrari remains realistic: the collaboration with Hamilton is still in full development.

Patience and Trust

Although a first podium finish for Hamilton in red is still pending, Vasseur remains convinced of the chosen course. He draws parallels with previous collaborations and emphasizes the importance of a close bond between driver and team. “Lewis is growing in the structure of the team, and the team is growing with him,” says Vasseur. “We now have to make a kind of mayonnaise out of it – improve step by step.” Whether that mayonnaise will eventually really bind, the rest of the season will have to show. One thing is certain: at Ferrari, hard work is being done on the right chemistry, on and off the track.”
