Formula 1 is back in Texas! The upcoming weekend will see the US Grand Prix taking place at the Circuit of the Americas. Although the premier class now also makes detours to Miami and Las Vegas, the racing festival in Austin remains the true American GP. After the scorching heat in Singapore, this weekend is also set to be marked by Texan temperatures. Here is the full weather forecast for the US Grand Prix.

During the last race weekend in Singapore, the FIA issued an official heat warning for the first time. This new guideline was introduced after the gruelling GP of Qatar in 2023. To provide cooling, a special vest was developed that allows drivers to regulate their body temperature during extremely hot races. A coolant is pumped around through small tubes, directly along the body. There was considerable criticism from the drivers, but in the future, the FIA could make the use of this cooling system mandatory. It is therefore not inconceivable that the drivers will pull out the cooling vests in Austin again – because the weather forecast for the US Grand Prix is not mild.

Weather Forecast for the US Grand Prix

The entire weekend promises to be sunny at and around the Circuit of the Americas. However, Max Verstappen and his colleagues will have little time to enjoy the weather. The American GP is once again marked by the sprint format, which means the drivers have a packed schedule. On Friday – when both the only free practice and the sprint qualification take place – it will remain dry in Austin. The temperature will rise to around 32 degrees Celsius in the full sun. The humidity is a lot lower than in Singapore, around 63 percent.

On Saturday, when both the sprint race and the regular qualification are on the schedule, it will be sunny again. It will be the hottest day of the weekend, with temperatures that can rise to 34 degrees. In the evening, there might be a few sprinkles, but by then Formula 1 will have long left the asphalt. During the Grand Prix on Sunday, little changes in the weather; the sun continues to shine and the mercury rises again to around 32 degrees Celsius.
