According to rumors, Cadillac has secured the services of Adam Baker, an Australian-German motor specialist and former CEO of Audi Formula Racing GmbH. The seasoned technician, who left Audi at the end of May 2025, is expected to play a key role in Cadillac’s engine project for 2029.

Baker is a motor specialist who was in charge of setting up Audi’s Formula 1 team. He is now making the switch to Cadillac. Since 2022, Baker has been at the helm of Audi’s ambitious F1 plans. He was responsible for building the team, engine development in Neuburg, and the collaboration with Sauber. His departure last spring followed an internal reorganization, in which his position as CEO was eliminated.

Should Baker indeed move to Cadillac, the American team would be gaining an experienced specialist with extensive knowledge of both engine development and the organizational side of a Formula 1 team. His years of experience within the sport, including stints at BMW Sauber and the FIA, make him well-suited to assist Cadillac with the complex challenges of developing their own engine. Cadillac is working towards a future where it not only stands on the grid with Ferrari engines, but also wants to develop its own power source in the long term. Until that time, Cadillac will enter into a three-year collaboration with Ferrari, until their own engine appears on the grid. Baker’s expertise in engine development could play a crucial role in this.
