Max Verstappen qualified 27th for his debut race on the Nordschleife. The Dutchman impressed on the ‘Green Hell’ section of the Nürburgring, and in his detuned Porsche GT4, he was faster than the other debutants. The race will start at 11:00 UTC.
Max Verstappen began his qualifying session on the Nürburgring in his detuned GT4 at 07:30 UTC. The world champion had 125 hp less at his disposal than the other cars. The German motorsport federation still considers the Dutchman a ‘rookie’ in the racing class, which means he is not yet allowed to use the full power of his car. It was expected that Verstappen would not compete for pole position because of this, but the world champion still surprised with his fast times.
With a time of 10:21.591, Verstappen was ultimately sixth in the Cup3 class and 27th in the ranking of the total 109 cars. The driver was even a minute faster during the qualifying session than the other detuned cars participating in the ‘Green Hell’ today, and only fifteen seconds slower than the fastest driver in his Cup3 class. The race will start this afternoon at 11:00 UTC.
