Following a disappointing result in Zandvoort, Ferrari is now setting its sights on Monza. With the lessons learned over the past weekend, the Italian racing team hopes to turn the season around. In Monza, the Scuderia is counting on a turnaround and the unparalleled support of the tifosi.
On Sunday, the Italian racing team left the circuit with zero points, after a double retirement. Both drivers saw their race end in the Hugenholtz corner. Lewis Hamilton lost control of his SF-25, went wide, and ended up on the wet paint. A tap against the barrier proved fatal: his right wheel suspension immediately gave way. For teammate Charles Leclerc, the race was also over shortly after, following a hefty collision with Mercedes driver Andrea Kimi Antonelli.
After the race, Hamilton mainly spoke about the progress the team managed to make in Zandvoort. “The weekend has brought us a lot of positives. We made progress this weekend,” Hamilton told Auto, Motor und Sport. “I feel comfortable in the car and the speed is there. My goal after the summer break was to build on what I had achieved, and this was the first step in that direction. The direction is good; it just needs to be refined now.” Team boss Frédéric Vasseur also commented on Lewis Hamilton’s progress: “Lewis drove a strong race until his crash. He had Charles’ speed and was gradually catching up with George Russell. He managed to recover well from the disappointments before the summer break and radiated more positive energy. Lewis has regained his confidence in the car and in himself.”
Special Livery
This weekend in Monza, Scuderia Ferrari will be racing with a special livery, as a tribute to the legendary Niki Lauda. The modified color scheme is inspired by the iconic Ferrari 312T from 1975 – the car with which Lauda achieved his first world title for Ferrari. By combining this striking livery with a strong performance on home soil, Ferrari hopes to treat the fans in Monza to a memorable race weekend.
