Rinus ‘VeeKay’ van Kalmthout is parting ways with his current IndyCar team, Dale Coyne Racing, as announced by the Dutch driver on Wednesday. ‘VeeKay’ raced for the American team for the first time this year, but has decided to choose a ‘different path’ after just one year. ‘This past season was genuinely the most enjoyable and pleasant year of my career,’ says ‘VeeKay’.
Van Kalmthout announced last February that he would be racing for the American Dale Coyne Racing, but the collaboration ends after just one season. The driver indicates that he wants to take a ‘different path’, but thanks the team for the opportunity to get behind their wheel.
‘A Season to Remember’
“I want to sincerely thank Dale Coyne Racing, especially Dale (Coyne) and Gail (Coyne), for the opportunity they gave me to put myself back on the map in 2025,” says the 24-year-old IndyCar driver. “This past IndyCar season was genuinely the most enjoyable and pleasant year of my IndyCar career. I want to highlight my mechanics and engineer, without them this would not have been possible. They all did their utmost to make the #18 askROI.com Honda (VeeKay’s car) perform well in every session. I will never forget this season.”
As a driver for Dale Coyne Racing, Van Kalmthout was able to make it into the top ten seven times, including two top five finishes. ‘VeeKay’ achieved his best result in Toronto, where he took second place. Van Kalmthout’s racing plans for 2026 will be announced later.
