Lewis Hamilton is spouting utter nonsense. At least, that’s what his former Mercedes teammate George Russell believes. Earlier this season, during the Hungarian Grand Prix, Hamilton labeled himself as ‘useless’. The seven-time world champion even suggested that his new employer Ferrari would be wise to look for another driver.

“Of course Lewis is talking nonsense when he says something like that, because he is the best driver of all time,” Russell told a group of Dutch journalists in Zandvoort on Thursday.

Russell continued, “Ten minutes after a bad qualification, you’re in front of the cameras and emotions play a big role. That colors your words. On a good day, you see just the opposite. Lewis won the sprint in China this year. He still has it in him. But Formula 1 is a tough sport, especially when your team is not performing at the highest level. That makes everything harder.”
