The time is almost upon us. On Sunday, August 31, the Dutch GP in Zandvoort is scheduled. In anticipation, we delved into the archives. In other words, a look back at different times in Zandvoort.
Alberto Ascari led the field in 1953, in front of packed stands. The Italian would also claim the race for Ferrari, ahead of teammate Giuseppe Farina. The third place was shared – ex aequo – by Felice Bonetto and José Froilán González (Maserati). Ascari had also started the race from pole position. It was his ninth pole, a record at the time.
