Logan Sargeant is set to make his return to motorsport in September. The 24-year-old American will participate in the final two races of the IMSA SportsCar Championship.

Sargeant will compete in the LMP2 class for PR1/Mathiasen Motorsports and will race at the Indianapolis and Road Atlanta circuits. He will share the car with Benjamin Pedersen and Naveen Rao. His first appearance is scheduled for the Six Hours of Indianapolis on September 21.

The American left the Williams team halfway through the 2024 Formula 1 season, following a series of disappointing results and crashes. Sargeant entered Formula 1 in 2023 through the Williams Driver Academy and achieved his best result – tenth place – during the United States Grand Prix in Austin.

‘Extremely Happy’

At the beginning of this year, he seemed set to debut in the Hypercar class of the World Endurance Championship, but that deal fell through. With his move to IMSA, Sargeant gets another chance to revive his career.

“I am extremely happy to be back behind the wheel for the final two LMP2 races in IMSA with PR1/Mathiasen Motorsports,” said Sargeant. “It’s a great opportunity to race on two special circuits, Indianapolis and Road Atlanta, and to compete for good results with my teammates. I want to use my knowledge and experience to contribute to the team’s success.”

Participating in the prestigious American endurance competition marks Sargeant’s first race since leaving Formula 1, and offers him the opportunity to re-establish himself on the international stage.
