Nico Rosberg anticipates that Oscar Piastri‘s mental resilience will be the deciding factor in the title fight with his McLaren teammate Lando Norris. The former world champion and F1 analyst sees Norris as clearly the weaker party in terms of mental strength. “Piastri no longer has any weak spots, Norris still does.”
Piastri currently leads the championship with a nine-point advantage over Norris, with six victories compared to five for the Brit. Despite Norris’s comeback, with three wins in the last four races, Rosberg emphasizes that the mental aspect is now crucial.
“You really can’t say anymore that Lando is a fraction faster,” says Nico Rosberg on the Sky Sports F1 podcast. “At some point we have to stop that, because there is no basis for it anymore. Oscar has always been extremely fast, I see them as truly equal now. The championship will be decided in Lando’s head. That’s my impression, how solid can Lando become?”
Rosberg notes that Piastri has few vulnerabilities: “Oscar is super strong. He surprised me, because we all knew he was a great driver, but last year Lando still had the upper hand. This year Oscar is incredibly solid, strong and fast. His weak spots? They’re gone, which is a bit scary for Lando, because he still has weaknesses.”
