Max Verstappen believes that due to the new engine regulations, among other things, driving in Formula 1 in 2026 will become even more a matter of ‘management’ and conservation. He stated this on Thursday in Hungary in response to conclusions drawn by Carlos Sainz, among others.
Sainz, Verstappen’s teammate during their shared time at the then Toro Rosso, has over the past days and weeks shared some insights about the findings in the simulator regarding the car for 2026. Other drivers have done the same. Sainz mentioned that it feels “strange” to lose power on the straight.
Verstappen is curious about how things will go in 2026. “You will sometimes have to manage the energy in the car more, in some cases more than others. But that is already the case now. Next year, this will certainly be even more frequent. And time will tell whether this is a good thing or not.”
