Max Verstappen has reportedly noticed the impact of Red Bull’s updates on the performance of the RB21. “I do think they’re working,” he said at the Belgian Grand Prix. However, it’s not quite what he had in mind.
When asked about Red Bull’s updates, Verstappen shared his opinion with the Dutch media on Saturday in Spa. “It still doesn’t provide the balance I want to really attack a corner. The problems remain somewhat the same.” Whether it’s realistic to change that this year is the question. “I don’t know, only time will tell,” Verstappen said.
Perhaps the new team boss, Laurent Mekies, can contribute to this. But the Frenchman can’t work miracles. Regardless, Verstappen is positive about working with the new team boss, who is more technically proficient than his predecessor, Christian Horner. “So, if you want to talk about the technical side of the car, that’s great,” Verstappen explains. Whether he missed that with Horner is another story. “He’s just a very different kind of team boss.”
The Dutchman sees, apart from the car updates, that the team’s morale is good. “People are cheerful, there’s laughter.” And his relationship with Mekies is also fine. “I get along well with him.”
