Red Bull figurehead Helmut Marko has made his voice heard, targeting George Russell, who spoke out this week about the potential arrival of Verstappen in Brackley. Marko: “Russell just talks too much.”
Russell’s future at Mercedes is under scrutiny. Despite his victory in Canada and a solid season, his seat is not secure. The British driver’s contract is expiring, and the rise of super talent Kimi Antonelli is putting him under further pressure.
Russell responded candidly to the rumors, expressing understanding for team boss Toto Wolff’s interest in Verstappen. However, this attitude is not well received in the Red Bull camp. “What’s going on with him now,” Marko expressed his surprise in Spielberg.
“I thought he had a contract for next year. That must have changed since Montreal. So that victory apparently did him no good. But we can’t really take this seriously. Russell just talks too much,” the Austrian concluded.
