Oscar Piastri is quite pleased with his third-place start for the Canadian Grand Prix. The Australian had a disappointing Friday at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve, where he could not drive faster than the sixth time. However, a day later, the McLaren driver, with his starting position on the second row, has also left his teammate Lando Norris, who could not get higher than seventh place, behind him.
“To be honest, considering how the training sessions went, I’m quite satisfied. It’s naturally different from last year,” says the relieved Australian immediately after the qualification to interviewer Jacques Villeneuve. For Piastri, the biggest choice during the qualifying session was whether to go for the C5 tire or the extra soft C6 tire. “It’s always the question: do you want the medium or the softs for Q3? We went for the soft tire, as we had some issues and this way we could keep it consistent. I’m quite pleased with the result.”
