With no Grand Prix scheduled for the upcoming weekend, Lewis Hamilton took the opportunity to visit 10 Downing Street, the official residence of the UK Prime Minister. The driver was there on behalf of his Mission 44 project, to discuss educational reform with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer. The conversation also covered ways in which the British government can support both schools and students.

“I struggled at school and never felt like my voice was heard. So, I know firsthand that it’s vital for every student to feel like they belong,” Hamilton reflected on his visit on his Instagram page. “I am grateful that the government has committed to working with Mission 44 to implement changes aimed at making the education system more inclusive following this meeting.”

Mission 44

In addition to being a Formula 1 driver, Hamilton is also the founder of Mission 44. The charity is committed to promoting more inclusive education and career opportunities in science and motorsport for young people. Mission 44 is named after Hamilton’s racing number. The Brit started the charity in 2021. The Ferrari driver says that he also experienced a ‘school system that worked against him’ in his own youth. “I am so proud of how far M44 has come in such a short time and the opportunity we have to change the lives of vulnerable students across the country,” said the seven-time world champion.Apologies for the confusion, but there seems to be a misunderstanding.
