For MP Motorsport, this season is literally and figuratively ‘Orange above’: René Lammers excelling in Formula 4, Maya Weug battling for the title in the F1 Academy, and Richard Verschoor leading the championship in Formula 2. Team boss Sander Dorsman remains calm and is not counting his chickens before they hatch.

“The season is still long, in all classes. And thus also in Formula 2,” Dorsman knows. However, success like in 2022 leaves them wanting more. Back then, MP Motorsport won the F2 title among the constructors, and they did so with Felipe Drugovich among the drivers. Can Verschoor – who leads with a 12-point advantage – repeat this feat this year?

Dorsman: “We are super competitive, that’s where it starts: we are happy with the speed, with the car and the team, and of course Richard. So things are going well. But there will also be weekends when things are not going so well, that’s part of F2. Then we need to ensure that we are satisfied with, for example, a fifth place and secure those points. Consistent scoring can get you a long way.”

Verschoor and MP Motorsport will continue their title hunt this weekend with two races during the Grand Prix of Emilia-Romagna in Imola. The sprint race starts on Saturday at 12:15 UTC, and the main race on the famous Italian circuit is on Sunday at 08:00 UTC.
