Attention Carlos Sainz fans! If you happen to be in the vicinity of the Spanish capital, Madrid, on Saturday, June 7, you might just see the Madrid-born racer tearing up the streets of his hometown. Sainz will be participating in a demonstration for Williams on the site of next year’s Spanish Grand Prix circuit, the Madring.
Carlos Sainz will traverse a portion of the future track in the FW45, the 2023 Williams car with which the team secured seventh place. In total, the local hero will cover a one-kilometer route, including the Ribera del Sena street. The demonstration will conclude at IFEMA Madrid. In addition to Sainz’s demonstration, various Fan Zones will be scattered throughout the center of the Spanish capital.
Alongside Sainz, Catalan and Formula 2 driver Pepe Martí, as well as Spaniard and Formula 3 driver Mari Boya, will also be racing through the streets of Madrid. Sainz is eagerly anticipating the event. “Madrid is, of course, my birthplace. I grew up here and started karting. To then have the opportunity to drive an F1 car in my own backyard is a dream come true,” an enthusiastic Sainz stated in the press release.
Opportunity for Madrid
In addition to being a Williams driver, the Spaniard is also an ambassador for the upcoming Grand Prix in Madrid. “It’s an incredible opportunity for Madrid to show everyone our potential and that we want to become the best circuit and the most beautiful event on the entire F1 calendar,” Sainz continues. “This roadshow is just the first step to bring Formula 1 closer to everyone and to showcase the unique character that the layout of the Madrid circuit will offer.”
