Max Verstappen‘s recent visit to the Nürburgring is likely to have whetted his appetite for more. Reportedly, following his test session on the iconic German circuit, the Dutchman is keen to obtain the special racing license for the Nordschleife section of the track. This would enable the world champion to participate in events such as the 24 Hours of the Nürburgring.

Max Verstappen, or as his car was labeled, ‘Franz Hermann’, was spotted ‘incognito’ on Friday in a Ferrari GT3 car at the Nürburgring. The Dutchman had a free weekend from Formula 1 and decided to take a spin on the iconic German circuit in the GT3 car of his own racing team. Verstappen.com Racing participates in events such as the GT World Challenge.

This was not the first time Verstappen has been behind the wheel of a GT3 car. The four-time world champion has previously conducted private tests with the vehicle. The well-informed Auto, Motor und Sport reported that Verstappen participated in a public test session at the Nürburgring this week. The Dutchman did this under the name Franz Hermann. Verstappen later confirmed this himself, sharing some impressive images via his social media channels.

Craving for More?

Max Verstappen conducted his test laps on the Nordschleife. This is a part of the old Nürburgring that disappeared from the Formula 1 calendar in 1976, following Niki Lauda’s accident. A shortened version of the track is still in use today for various activities, including test sessions. Verstappen’s test seems to have been well received by the world champion.

According to Auto, Motor und Sport, Verstappen aims to obtain the special racing license for the Nordschleife, the DMSB Permit Nordschleife, this year. This license would enable the world champion to participate in races on the Nürburgring Nordschleife, including the 24 Hours of the Nürburgring.
