Lewis Hamilton is all smiles in front of the cameras after the sprint race. The seven-time world champion finished third, following a chaotic, shortened session at the Miami International Autodrome. A result that Hamilton could only dream of a day earlier. “I took a risk, and it paid off,” said the Ferrari driver.

Lewis Hamilton started seventh in the sprint race in Miami, but managed to climb to the podium amidst the chaos of the eighteen laps. The crash of his teammate Charles Leclerc before the sprint race, the chaos in the pit lane during the tyre changes to the slicks, and the safety car could not prevent Hamilton from securing the third place.

The seven-time world champion is visibly pleased with his result, and thanks the fans present. “I’m so happy with this,” says a smiling Hamilton. “It’s been a tough year so far, and I never thought it would rain in Miami. What a race that gave us.”

Well Played

Despite the good result for Hamilton, the shortened session was not smooth sailing for the Brit. “I was really struggling on the intermediates, just like everyone else. I decided to go into the pits then, because it was not progressing at all. I took the risk, the gamble, and it paid off. I would have liked a few more laps, so I could have fought with these guys (McLaren), but I congratulate them, as always.”
