The smile is back on Lando Norris‘ face. The McLaren driver started the sprint race in Miami from third place, behind teammate Oscar Piastri, but finished as the winner. He has nothing to complain about his luck in the sunny resort town.

Last season, Lando Norris achieved his first Formula 1 victory in Miami. After another win, this time in the sprint race, the McLaren driver is naturally thrilled. “My luck in Miami seems to be pretty good at the moment, so I’m happy,” he begins his story to F1 TV. The McLaren driver started the sprint race in third place, right behind teammate Oscar Piastri and pole sitter Andrea Kimi Antonelli. When the track began to dry and the first drivers switched to slicks, there was considerable chaos. The Brit, who was already hot on Piastri’s heels, managed to take advantage of the moment and pass him for the leading position. “The pace was still very good. These races are always just tricky. You never know exactly when to stop. If you stop early, it pays off – like with Lewis Hamilton, he had a good strategy. Or do you stay out longer in the hope of a safety car,” he analyzes.

With this victory, Norris scores eight points, one more than second place and leader in the drivers’ championship Oscar Piastri. “I would probably prefer this to happen tomorrow rather than today, but I’ll take it as it comes. I’m happy. Good job by the team. It was fun.”
