Big news from Miami! Even before the start of the first free practice of the eponymous Grand Prix, Formula 1 announced that the event has signed a new ten-year contract. The current collaboration with the Miami Grand Prix runs until 2031. This means that this spectacular American race will remain on the calendar until 2041! With this, the organizers in Florida hold the longest contract of all Grand Prix events.

The new deal was announced on Friday, prior to the sprint weekend, by Formula 1 CEO Stefano Domenicali and Tom Garfinkel, partner of the Grand Prix and CEO of the Miami Dolphins and the Hard Rock Stadium — the gigantic sports stadium that surrounds the Miami Autodrome. The American coastal city joined Formula 1 in 2022 as the second American race on the calendar, alongside the United States Grand Prix in Austin. Both races have since been supplemented with the Las Vegas Grand Prix.

GP Miami: A Global Sports Hub

“In just three years, the GP Miami has evolved into one of the most important and spectacular events on our calendar,” said Domenicali in an official press release. “The extension of this agreement until 2041 is a hugely significant milestone. We aim to strengthen our presence in America and our connection with the growing number of American fans. In this regard, Miami is not only an extraordinary city but also a global sports hub. It is energetic, dynamic, and culturally vibrant. I would like to express my immense gratitude to Stephen Ross (owner of the Miami Dolphins) and Tom Garfinkel, who have made the GP Miami a world-class event.”

“Securing a ten-year extension is a milestone,” added Garfinkel. “This is the result of all the hard work of our team and the growth of the sport in the United States. The fact that we received this extension after only our third event speaks volumes about what we felt from the beginning; the GP Miami is here to stay. I thank Stefano Domenicali and Formula 1 for their faith in our vision. I must also thank Stephen Ross for his investments and commitment to this event. Our goal has always been to create a world-class race — an event that also reflects the spirit of Miami: vibrant, inclusive, and culturally significant. This long-term commitment allows us to continue to innovate and increase our impact throughout South Florida.”
