Aston Martin team boss Andy Cowell has declined to comment directly on the rumors surrounding a potential move by Max Verstappen to his team. The Brit sidesteps questions from journalists in Saudi Arabia, stating that the focus remains on delivering a good car for current drivers Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll.
With the ongoing issues with the Red Bull car, rumors about Max Verstappen’s future with the team have been reignited. The Dutchman is consistently linked with a potential move to Mercedes or Aston Martin. George Russell previously stated that he understands why his racing team would want to bring in the four-time world champion. Fernando Alonso, who drives for the British Aston Martin team, is even pleased with the rumors.
“Those rumors about Max are good for our team,” said the Spaniard. However, he would prefer to see the driver join Aston Martin only after 2026. Team boss Andy Cowell is much less talkative than Alonso when a journalist asks if the Brit agrees with his driver.
We Have Two Experienced Drivers
“We are fortunate to have two experienced drivers with contracts for the coming years,” Cowell evades the question during the press conference in Saudi Arabia. “This means we can focus on developing a fast car. I am also only thinking about developing a good company so we can build a good car for Lance (Stroll) and Fernando.”
