Jack Doohan reveals that he raced in Suzuka with pain. The Australian had a significant crash during the second free practice in Japan, and felt the consequences of it throughout the weekend. However, a week later, Doohan has recovered and is ready for the upcoming race weekend in Bahrain.

Jack Doohan’s second free practice in Japan was short-lived, as the Australian crashed into the wall at 300 km/h after just a few laps. Alpine concluded afterwards that the crash was the driver’s own fault, who made a miscalculation by not closing the DRS-flap. Doohan had to deal with the consequences of his hard crash for the rest of the weekend.

“I was already in a bit of pain on Friday, but it got worse on Saturday. On Sunday it was even a bit worse,” Doohan tells in Bahrain. “I was in pain from the start of the race, but it eased towards the end. The adrenaline helped.” Does the Alpine driver feel back to his old self a few days later? “A few days off certainly helped.”

On to Bahrain

Therefore, Doohan can also look forward to the race weekend in Bahrain. “As long as you can learn from your mistakes. Then you can ensure afterwards that you know where the positive points came from and how you can repeat them,” the driver continues. “The main goal this weekend is to make it run smoothly from start to finish and to just keep getting closer to the other teams.”
