In the lead-up to the fortieth Hungarian Grand Prix, the Hungaroring is undergoing extensive renovations. The Formula 1 will return to the historic circuit in early August. By the time this fourteenth round of the season takes place, the facilities on and around the circuit will look significantly different. Currently, the paddock, the main building, and the grandstand are being renovated.
Formula1.com reports that the redevelopment of the Hungaroring is progressing faster than originally planned. The work began last July, following the Hungarian Grand Prix and Oscar Piastri’s first Formula 1 victory. Since then, over a thousand people have been working on the site daily. By the time Formula 1 returns to the circuit in August, most of the work should be largely completed. Thanks in part to these modifications, the Hungaroring promises to become Hungary’s largest sports facility and event venue.
Renovations
A new roof structure is being built above the grandstand, while the grandstand itself is largely completed – only the seats are missing. New tunnels are being constructed under the straight stretch, and the entire circuit is getting a new layer of asphalt. The structural renovations to the paddock building were already completed at the end of February. The mechanical and electrical installations in the Hungaroring’s pit lane are in an advanced stage.During the upcoming Hungarian GP, the new constructions will be nearly complete, with the exception of the media center and the race director’s facilities. Temporary locations will be set up for these amenities until the entire project is completed before the GP of 2026. The Hungaroring will remain on the Formula 1 calendar until 2032.
