Red Bull appears to be running out of patience with Liam Lawson. After two disastrous weekends for the New Zealander, respectively in Australia and China, there is rampant speculation about his seat. Yuki Tsunoda could soon be promoted from the training team, Racing Bulls. According to various media outlets, Franco Colapinto could surprisingly take over the Japanese driver’s seat.

After his impressive F1 debut last season with Williams, Colapinto appeared on Red Bull’s radar, especially after scoring points in his second race in Baku, Azerbaijan. Red Bull team boss Christian Horner has already confirmed that there have indeed been talks with Colapinto.

If Colapinto lands at Racing Bulls, it would automatically mean the end of the road for Liam Lawson. This painful decision could possibly be made before the next race, the GP of Japan in the first weekend of April.

Interestingly, Colapinto has been hired by Alpine from Williams, for several years even. The idea is to eventually put him in the car, likely in Jack Doohan’s Alpine. This arrangement means that Red Bull will have to negotiate with Alpine and Williams about Colapinto.
