Liam Lawson, to put it mildly, has had a rough start at Red Bull. The New Zealander qualified last during the qualifiers for the Grand Prix of China, the same position he held in the sprint qualifiers.
Lawson also failed to make it past Q3 in the qualifiers for the Grand Prix of Australia. So far in China, he has not found the right pace. His first lap only earned him the nineteenth spot. Although Lawson improved in every sector during his second attempt, it was not enough to break through to Q2 for the first time; he even finished last. Moreover, he faces a grid penalty because he did not reduce his speed enough during a yellow flag situation.
