The new Formula 1 season is about to kick off! Unlike previous years, Max Verstappen and his colleagues are heading to Australia this week for the opening race; the anniversary year will commence at the Albert Park Circuit in Melbourne. The Australian GP promises to be an intriguing contest, not least due to the wildly unpredictable weather forecast.

In the run-up to the Australian Grand Prix, reigning world champion Max Verstappen did not exude confidence. “I don’t think we’re in for the win in Melbourne,” he stated during a press moment with Viaplay. However, there is hope for the Dutchman. Everyone knows how phenomenal he is in the rain – let’s not forget last year’s São Paulo GP – and it seems that down under, the heavens are set to open.

Weather Forecast for the Australian GP

On the opening day, Friday, it is expected to remain dry in Melbourne. The sun will shine brightly, and the temperature will reach around 26 degrees Celsius. There will also be a gentle southerly wind, but it is unlikely to affect the cars on the circuit. On Saturday, when the qualification takes place, the temperature is set to rise further. It could reach up to 33 degrees at the Albert Park Circuit, and again, it is expected to stay dry.

However, the weather is set to turn during the Grand Prix. The temperature will not exceed 24 degrees, and the sun will give way to cloud cover. Moreover, precipitation is forecast throughout the day! The chance of rain is around 90%. To sum up: the first race of the season, five rookies on the grid, and a high chance of rain. This promises to be exciting!
