Technical Director of Racing Bulls, Jody Egginton, is leaving the team, as announced by Red Bull’s sister team on Monday. The Brit will start his new role as Engineering Director at Red Bull Advanced Technologies from April 1st. Chief Technical Officer Tim Goss and Deputy Technical Directors Guillaume Cattelani and Andrea Landi will take over Egginton’s responsibilities.
Egginton began his career in Formula 1 in 1996 as a junior designer for the Tyrrell team. The Brit made a few forays into other racing classes, but from the nineties onwards, he primarily worked in the premier class. After working with Midland – later known under the names Spyker, Force India, and Team Lotus – Egginton moved to Faenza, where he became Head of Vehicle Performance for Red Bull’s sister team. He was appointed Technical Director in 2019.
New Challenge
“It has been a fantastic experience for me to have been part of this team for over ten years,” Egginton reflects on his time at Racing Bulls in the press release. “But after nearly twenty years of being solely involved with Formula 1, I feel it’s time for a change. I have been given a great assignment as Engineering Director of Red Bull Advanced Technologies. The company currently has a list of exciting projects, so I can’t wait to start this new challenge.”
Racing Bulls team boss Laurent Mekies thanks the departing Egginton for his work with the team. “As Technical Director, he has played a crucial role in driving innovation and promoting the growth of the team. We wish him all the best for this new challenge within the Red Bull family.”
