Max Verstappen has made his first laps in the RB21: just before the start of the Formula 1 winter test, he took action with the new car during a filming day in Bahrain. “It was fun to drive again, the main thing was that I felt comfortable in the car.”
Verstappen’s teammate Liam Lawson also took action with the car, but the Dutchman kicked off the filming day. There is not much to say about the performances yet. “In the coming days, we will learn more about the car,” says Verstappen. “We know the limitations of last year’s car, so it’s important that we assess the speed in the coming days and see if there is any improvement.”
There is work to be done, they know at Red Bull. “We don’t have much time until the first race, so we hope to cover many kilometers with the car during the test and make many runs to understand where we can find time.”
Verstappen continues: “At this moment, I don’t have any goals for the new year, because we don’t know how competitive we are yet. But I’m looking forward to racing again.”
